– The Federal Government of Nigeria has apologized to the Saudi Arabia Government after 200 tonnes of dates sent as ‘Ramadan gift’ to Internally displaced people

-The dates were meant for people who fled their homes because of the Boko Haram Islamist insurgency in the country.

-The dates were found on sale in markets




-In the Islam tradition, dates are the first thing that Muslims eat while breaking their fast 

-Foreign ministry spokesperson, Clement Aduku,  expressed his disappointment the event and said the matter is being investigated to avoid a repeat in the future

“The ministry, in a statement by its spokesperson, Clement Aduku, expressed “disappointment” over the “unfortunate turn of events” but said the matter is being investigated to avoid a repeat in the future, Daily Trust reports
