Is It Legal to sign an employment Contract without reading it?
I just want to ask my cousins signed a contract today (Cleaning company here in UAE) without allowing them to read it, the salary written in the contract is 1,500 as per their conversation today they will receive only 1,200 (12hrs duty) including overtime and if they don’t have any duty they only received 900 dhs. Including there 200 allowances. They also ask them to pay 270dhs for emirates id (free food & accommodation).
Is there any probational period for them?
Or what is legally act we need to do to protect their rights as employee!?
That is totally unacceptable not in UAE or any other country on planet earth.
It’s called a contract because A contract is a legally binding or valid agreement between two parties. The UAE labour law will consider a contract to be valid if the agreement contains, offer and acceptance, an intention between the parties to create binding relations, consideration to be paid for the promise made, legal capacity of the parties to act, genuine consent of the parties; and legality of the agreement. An agreement that lacks one or more of the elements listed above is not a valid contract.
So you signing a contract without reading it can be regarded unseriousness because no one will believe you in future.
You shouldn’t sign. Never ever sign any agreement without signing it. you will be buried alive.
