Is acceptable for employers to Pay gratitude in installments?
Hello everyone, I am posting this behalf of my friend, who is working as instrument mechanic in a company based in Dubai for last 38 months.Last 14 months the employer not given him the full salary, they just maintained the salary account by depositing the basic only.Now he got a better offer, he has given the resign letter and they canceled his visa.Now the employer has to give him around 16000 AED including all benefits after deducting 2000 AED for visa expense.But the employer told him that they will give 50 % of the settlement money this month and the rest will be given by next month.Is it a good idea to take a post-dated cheque from the employer?
He shouldn’t have signed the cancellation without receiving all his dues. Now most companies are paying in parts due to various financial and operational reasons. It would be his personal choice to accept the pdc cheque or not. A cheque once issued is valued for 6 months as per the date mentioned on the cheque, if dishonored to withdraw cash or clearance of the cheque, ur friend can register a police complaint but ensure they give in written that the settlement is being paid in 2 payments with the cheque details on their company letter head.
