I RESIGNED BUT THE COMPANY IS NOT LETTING ME GO. CAN I REPORT TO LABOUR IN DUBAI?
I resigned from my current job before 10 days with one month notice. I requested for my labor card cancellation within this period and final settlement. But management told me that they will do it both only after my handover of responsibilities to new staff. Still now no one came to take over. They are giving me more responsibilities also. They are not allowing me to go for interviews by threatening that they will not make my final settlement. I have more than 5 years service in this company. I am getting calls for interviews.

Well if you resign with 30 days notice period, you should wait for it and for sure you have to be at work during notice period. If anyone join during this period, you may handover else upon completion of notice period, you are not obliged to work anymore. If they didn’t arrange your settlement and cancel your visa, you can log a complaint in Tasheel center to be followed at MOL for your EOSB (end of service benefits) I.e. Leave salary, gratuity etc. They are obliged by law to pay you the leave salary and gratuity and cancel your visa upon completion of notice period. I will still advise to sort the matter out amicably in a mutually beneficial manner as the complaint resolution may take 2-3 months in labour and later if moved to court, it may take another 3-4 months.
